The Community Space in the Booth Building at Lax Keen School will be the venue for tonight's final SD52 public engagement on their budget deliberations |
It's the Battle of the Budget consultations tonight, with Both the City of Prince Rupert and the Prince Rupert School District hosting community engagement opportunities this evening.
As we outlined earlier today, the City council hosted session is the first of the public engagements, with a second set for the end of this month.
For the School District, tonight is the final opportunity for parents, guardians and community stakeholders to have a say before the Board of Education makes its decisions to bring the Budget to Balance.
Last week we outlined some of the work done to this point on the SD52 budget, the process moving forward after the departure of former School District Secretary/Treasurer Cam McIntyre in February.
The February session, came with some guidance from a "helper Secretary/Treasurer", Gerry Slykhuis from the Fraser Valley region, his was an informative overview of the situation facing SD52 and offered up some solutions towards their challenges.
You can participate in tonight's session at 7 PM in person or by Zoom, review the information below towards how to access the Zoom option.
SD52 trustees have to make a Budget Decision by April 20th.
