Salmon Festival gains $5,900 in funding from BC Government


Prince Rupert's Jim Ciccone Civic Centre once again will
host the Salmon Festival in May

The organizers of the celebration of the arrival of the Salmon this year in Prince Rupert will be doing some celebrating of their own this week;  that following the success of the Gitmaxmak'ay Nisga'a Society in gaining provincial funding for the annual Salmon Festival.

Yesterday, the BC Government announced that the Prince Rupert event would be receiving $5,900 from the BC Fairs, Festivals and Events program, with North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice observing on the return for public gatherings following COVID times.

"Throughout my riding of North Coast, there are impressive community events to attend. This funding will support events like the Salmon Festival to continue, especially after the hardships of the pandemic. I am looking forward to attending many of these events this year."

This years event, marking it's 9th year,  takes place at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre on May 26 and 27 with a growing list of activities to take place during the two day festival.
