Port Edward puts out the hiring call for Public Works post

The District of Port Edward is looking to fill an opening with their team for a position as a utility and Maintenance worker.

The job listing is available on the Port Edward website and notes of the following for the scope of the work for the successful applicant.

Reporting to the Public Works Foreman, this unionized position performs maintenance on District buildings, roads, parks and facilities. This position requires knowledge and skills in the methods, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in construction and maintenance work. Duties also include general labour, refuse collection, operating and maintaining equipment and power tools. 

The Maintenance Worker I is also required to assist with the maintenance, repairs and monitoring of the municipal water supply systems and the wastewater collection and treatment systems to ensure the water and wastewater treatment systems meet the requirements of the provincial statutes and regulations.

Like many North Coast organizations, the District is competing with a number of port related operators along with the City of Prince Rupert when it comes to filling staffing positions.

The position remains open until the District has filled it.
