Cold Snap is a comin' for Prince Rupert, points east on Highway 16 corridor

No weather alerts yet for the Northwest, but the cold
is on the way with an arctic blast set to arrive midweek

It's time to dig out your winter jacket, mitts and maybe even snow boots depending on the winds, as the Northwest prepares for some Colder conditions than those experienced during our recent balmy holiday period.

The Forecast for Prince Rupert and coastal regions will see a steady decline in temperature with today's high of 3 as good as it's going to be for at least the next week.

The final day for the warmish climes will see some rain overnight then, the arctic front makes its approach into the region, with a Daytime high of -9 the expectation for Thursday and Friday the lows at -14 by Friday.

The colder temperatures for the city, likely to be of note for the city's operations department with concerns over waterline breaks on their minds.

The last cold snap of one year ago, set in motion a string of waterline issues for the city works department to address.

The further inland you travel this week, the colder it will get with Terrace set to reach lows of -18 overnight highs not much better at -15

The Bulkley Valley will explore the depths of -29 temperatures over the course of the week

If those living inland are looking for a break from the frigid times ... a trip to the coast for next week might be in order.

The long range forecast for Prince Rupert shows a break from the cold once this week is out of the way.
