Council to hold special Session tonight

It being July, Prince Rupert Council was only scheduled to hold one session this month as the summer holiday period takes hold, however, with a Public Hearing on the listings for the evening, Council will also hold a Special Session this evening.

Among the items on the Agenda for the evening, a review of the comments from the Public Hearing and action on the Report from the City Planner regarding the proposed zoning changes for the Park Avenue housing proposal.

Council will also address a request for a proclamation regarding the Success by 6/Prince Rupert Early Years Program, with the Mayor and Council to declare that Prince Rupert is a Child Friendly Community. 

Along with the proclamation, Council may make mention of the upcoming celebration of the Proclamation, that event is set to take pace on Saturday, July 11th from 11 AM to 3 PM at Mariner's Park.

As well council will make an announcement regarding a resolution from the Mayor and Council for the Award of the Tender for Airport Master Plan.

Since they are getting together this evening, Council will also take advantage of the opportunity to hold another Closed Session, this one taking place at 5:30 in Council Chambers.

The meeting is to be closed to the public under Section 90 of the Community Charter as Council considers the following item:

90.1 (k) negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that are at their preliminary stages and that, in the view of the council, could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality if they were held in public.
