The work that the province has engaged on in areas of flood mitigation was the topic for North Coast MLA Jennifer's presentation to the Legislature on Tuesday morning, as the Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Preparedness provided members of the House with some background on the government's plans.
Making note of high snow pack levels in a number of areas of the Province, the MLA observed that areas such as the Cariboo, Central and Southeast regions of the province are being evaluated for potential hazards
Ms. Rice made note of some 12 million dollars in investment in and some thirty flood mitigation projects that the province and Federal Government have put forward for this year.
She also urged residents of the province to be aware of the importance of flood preparedness, and to develop an emergency plan and prepare emergency kits, should a flood situation require action.
She also directed British Columbians to the Prepared BC website to access more information and information on how to prepare for emergency situations.
