2019 Cruise Season ends with sunny skies, fair seas and hopes for 2020

The final cruise call of the year came and went over the weekend as the Seabourn Sojourn made it's final trip to the city for the year, the ten hours ashore spent in sunshine as the guests in town took to the city's streets until just before departure time at 6PM.

The Seabourn Line has been the most frequent visitor to Prince Rupert this year, the eight visits by the Sojourn accounting for 3,600 of the 11,400 plus cruise visitors since the start of the cruise year back on May 23rd.

Sunshine greeted the passengers of the Seabourn Sojourn
on Saturday, the port call marked the last cruise ship visit for 2019

As the port tells the story of 2019, there were 28 Scheduled Port calls this year the largest vessel was the Crystal Symphony with 922 passengers on August 7th, the smallest the Windstar Lines Star Legend which made four port calls this year, bringing 212 visitors each time.

August 7th was the busiest day for the scheduled visits to Northland Terminal, with both the Star Legend and Crystal Symphony arriving in town.

Prince Rupert also received one unscheduled visit from a major Cruise line presence in the Alaska Cruise theatre.

That came when the Princess Cruise Line vessel Island Princess made a one day stop over in the city on September 14th, offering the rare sight of one of the larger of the vessels of the Alaska Cruise industry in the harbour and providing its 2,000 guests with a chance to explore on a busy September Saturday.

It also provided Princess Cruise Lines with an opportunity to gain feedback from its ships crew as to what Prince Rupert may have to offer, something which may bring some benefits down the road, should the line choose to make Prince Rupert one of its scheduled port calls in the future.

As the Sojourn's passengers were touring the City on Saturday, the Prince Rupert Port Authority made note of the final visit for 2019 through social media, paying tribute to the tireless work of the volunteers that help to build the Prince Rupert Cruise foundation in the city.
