Finally some basketball for Prince Rupert and area residents to settle in for

For the basketball fans of the North Coast, 2021 so far has held nothing but disappointments.

With local hoops fans denied a chance to follow the success of the Charles Hays Rainmakers this season owing to COVID and the coronavirus making for the cancellation of the Annual celebration of the All Native Basketball Tournament.

But as we head through March, there finally is some basketball that we can all take part in as an active cheering section, with the American NCAA College basketball season about to head to the Madness of March and the tournament that is on the calendar for all basketball fans everywhere.

For Prince Rupert, the travels of the Utah State Aggies will be of much interest, with former Charles Hays Rainmaker Liam McCheshney gaining some court time this year in his first full season of NCAA ball.


The Aggies who finished the NCAA season with a 19-7 record overall, are the number two seed in the Mountain West Tournament this weekend, with the team preparing for their Semi-Final matchup tonight agains Colorado State.

Last night Utah State topped UNLV the host of the tournament by a score of 74-53


How they fare in their Conference finale this weekend will make for some of the consideration as they move forward into March Madness, with the brackets ahead to be revealed on Sunday afternoon.

The March Madness brackets will be broadcast on CBS at 3PM Pacific time, the opening round match-ups  revealed here as they are announced.

TSN is warning up  for the month ahead with some of the other conference finals taking place this weekend, if you pop in from time to time you may find a few good games to help whet your appetite for the big show which starts next week.
