MLA's Week: March 8-11, 2021


British Columbia's MLA's returned to their duties this week for their second week of the Spring session of the legislature, though a light one for representation by the regional members.

For the Northwest MLA's the week was once again one of remote participation with all three  regional representatives, Jennifer Rice, Ellis Ross and Nathan Cullen participating from their home constituencies.

This week also saw one of the ongoing Legislature committees seek some feedback from the public with the Special Legislature Committee studying the BC Police Act asking for submissions from the public.


As for more on the week of work from the House, the four days unfolded as follows:

On the week, Ms Rice was mentioned once in the record for the week in the Legislature from March 8-11

Monday the MLA spoke to themes related to International Women's Day. 

Outside of her House Duties, the MLA also participated in an online discussion along with Stikine MLA Nathan Cullen related to a new education access program available in Northwest BC.



The North Coast MLA is also a member of the Following committees:


Ms. Rice serves as the Government's Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Preparedness

For our readers from the Terrace-Kitimat region, Skeena MLA Ellis Ross  was mentioned once in the record for the week in the Legislature from March 8-11

On Wednesday, the MLA continued to participate in the discussion related to the the government's plans towards a new Firearms Bill



Mr. Ross is currently the BC Liberal's Opposition Critic for Environment and Climate Change Strategy.

The Skeena MLA is also contesting for the leadership of the BC Liberal Party

For our readers from the Bulkley Valley area, Stikine MLA Nathan Cullen  was not mentioned  in the record for the week in the Legislature from March 8-11

The Stikine MLA had no appearances through House discussions, but did take part in the online discussion with MLA Rice on educational opportunities available in the Northwest.




Mr. Cullen serves as the Government's Minister of State for Lands and Natural Resource Operations
