Saturday marks the return of the Prince Rupert Children's Fest

After a COVID required break over the last few years, Children in Prince Rupert and the surrounding area will be heading for the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre this Saturday for the return of Children's Fest, a five hour adventure  full of activities and entertainment.

The last in person Children's Fest took place in 2020, with the arrival of COVID the festival shifted to an online showcase, but as can be imagined, the lack of in person activities did take away from some of the enthusiasm.

But the event is back ready to mark the return with a theme of Fantasy, making for all sorts of opportunities for costumes and characters for Saturday's community PlayDate.

Things get under way at 11 AM and continue through to 4PM

The old favourites such s the Bouncy Castle will return and some new activities are planned to keep things fresh, as well as an opportunity for the youngsters to do some larping which is a live action role play battle. (ask your kids for the lowdown on that one).

Thanks to some help from a number of sponsors the Day's events are by way of admission by Donation.

Special Events Prince Rupert puts on these fun festivals four times a year and to  bring such a community initiative in to opening requires a lot of volunteers and they can always use a few more hands.

If you can help out you can sign up here, Special events has positions needing help both Friday,  the day before the event and on Saturday the day of the Children's Fest.

There are two other Festivals to come before the end of Summer, with Seafest set for June 9-11 and Canada Day on July 1st. Winterfest rounds out the Big Four it will take place in early December.

Follow the Special Events Social Media page for updates on the way to Saturday's events and other notes related to their work in the community.

Following the Saturday events in the Civic Centre, Trigon is sponsoring a Free Public Swim at the Earl Mah Aquatic Centre that takes place from 4-6 PM.
