Another day, another round of snow shovelling ahead for Rupertites |
Prince Rupert residents are surely getting their steps in and building on their snow throwing style, though perhaps more than a few backs are starting to grumble as the ongoing presence of winter continues to share fluffy precipitation on city streets, parking lots and driveways.
The current round of endless shovelling began last Friday and it seems that it hasn't provided for many breaks in the cycle since.
The latest round of snow began overnight and only tapered off at mid morning today.
The new snow brought a new advisory from the City, which has been using its social media stream to provide guidance for residents perhaps not used to winter weather or what the city expects of them when it arrives.
And as it has since Friday, the City's social media page makes for an instant forum on all things snow and snow removal.
While the City has been quick with the messaging on what residents can do to help, so far the City's Operations Department hasn't provided for some background on the extensive efforts being put forward towards the snow removal.
A battle plan that has made use of both the city workforce and contractors with a range of heavy equipment in use across the community.
An update on how that has gone and what kind of a wallop winter is putting on the city's snow budget probably would be appreciated by city residents, giving them something to read in between driveway shifts.
As for the Snow, avert your eyes ... Just before 11 AM Environment Canada issued a new Snowfall Warning, though with the hopeful mention of rain possible by this afternoon.

If you're scoring at home, today's snow adds another 10 cm to the pile of the last six days. However, if we can hang on a bit longer, the weekend offers up some relief.

It would help the city if they did an assessment of problem vehicles, trailers, boats and abandoned derelict vehicles prior to winter setting in. Some the owners might move, many should be towed. To expect action on the fifth day of a snowfall is a little beyond belief.
