Celebrations of the Achievements of Women to be found around the world and in Prince Rupert on International Women's Day

Today is being marked around the world as a day one of celebration of achievements by Women and a call for awareness of discrimination and to take action on gender parity.

All of it part of the global messages from coming out of International Women's Day.

In Canada, the Federal government has taken the lead on the day, with statements and a website of resources to explore to learn more of the day's focus.

In British Columbia, Premier David Edby opened this Friday with the government's message for the day.

Locally, the City of Prince Rupert has paid tribute to the women of the region as part of their message for the day.

In the community, the Prince Rupert Port Authority, Northern Savings and Coast Mountain College were among those. who have made note of the day of celebration and calls for action.
