Hockey fans in the Cariboo had a full weekend of fast paced and entertaining hockey to bring an end to the CIHL season, with the battle for the CIHL Championship going to a Game Three Overtime before the Terrace River Kings found the back of the net to claim the title.

Terrace had arrived in Williams Lake for a Saturday match up with a 1 game to none lead in the CIHL season finale, with the hometown Stamps looking to battle back and extend the series to the full three games.

By the time that play ended Saturday that mission was accomplished on the strength of a 2-1 win, setting the stage for the Sunday showdown.

The Sunday final, as was the series, an indication of the parity for the two teams who matched up well both on offence and defence.

Sunday's match up took them both to Overtime, with Chapen Leblond snaring a rebound off a Stephen Cullis shot to claim the CIHL's Cameron Kerr Trophy with a 4-3 final.

The victory charting their next course to Powell River later this month for the Coy Cup.

Both Terrace and Williams Lake will participate in the Coy Cup competition later this month, hosted by the Sunshine Coast team the Regals .

You can review some of the Coy Cup plans underway from the Powell River Regal social media page.
