City's Fire and Police hockey talent set for showdown tonight at the Jim

Tonight marks the last night for ice at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre and before the big thaw and the big drain, will come one last competitive tilt on the frozen surface on McBride.

That with the local RCMP and Prince Rupert Fire Rescue members set for the 2024 edition of the Guns and Hoses match up.

The popular community event should bring another large crowd to the Civic Centre this evening, the two teams perhaps reinforced with some ringers from the local Rampage side, with all of the action on the ice in support of KidSport in Prince Rupert.

Tickets for tonight's game are only 10 dollars, available at Cooks Jewellers, Rupert Cleaners or at the door tonight just prior to puck drop at 7 PM.

The night will also make for the debut for the official name for the RCMP mascot, with Rocky the Safety Bear to be introduced at tonight's showcase, he'll be a companion for the PRFD's Sparky.

  1. I remember when they used to recognize Butch Duffy in the event title as a memorial hockey game. How quickly people forget what he contributed. A slap in the face to a man who served the community for 30 years.
