The fresh ice of September will slowly drain away in mid March, with the
City's Recreation Department announcing the end of Ice Season at the Jim

Prince Rupert's hockey players, Skating Club members and recreational skaters have but a few days left for their passion for the 2023-24 season.

That as the City of Prince Rupert Recreation Department announced yesterday that the ice surface at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre will be taken out for the spring and summer season on March 16th.

The advisory for recreation centre users came from the Recreation Department Social media stream on Wednesday afternoon.

With March 15th marking the last day of the ice season, the last lap around the rink will go to the member of the Prince Rupert RCMP and Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue department.

That as they take to the ice in their annual Guns N Hoses contest

The battle between the Fire and police contingent is in support Kid Sport.

The proceeds from the March 15th contest to be directed to that organization's work towards reducing the cost of recreation activities for youth in the community.
