While much of the focus of the last week has been on the string of recent service curtailments at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital Emergency Room, Northern Health does have some positive news to share on health care in the region.
With the Health Authority noting of a new service available through the Health Unit in the Ocean Centre downtown.
Yesterday Northern Health outlined the introduction an IV Iron Infusion station offered through the downtown facility.
An option that will make for less trips to the hospital for those that make use of the program.
IV iron infusion is ordered by physicians for those patients that don't have enough iron in their bodies making for an inability to make hemoglobin, a condition that can lead to anemia.
The equipment for the service at the Health Unit was made possible through donations and support of the Prince Rupert Hospital Auxiliary.
The news of the added service at the Health Unit was relayed through Northern Health's Prince Rupert Social media feed.
More notes from Northern Health can be explored through our archive page.
