Prince Rupert's Lester Centre will make for the backdrop for many a photo tonight, as the graduates of Charles Hays Secondary arrive for their Graduation ceremony |
The rehearsal sessions are over, the final tutorial on how to stand, sit and move in procession now firmly in place for the class of 2017 and all that's left is for the night to arrive and for another graduating class from Charles Hays Secondary to walk off into their future.
The 2017 Grade ceremonies for the city's high school are set for this evening, as the community prepares to salute the graduating students and parents, as well as the teachers, school administrators and support staff at CHSS as the annual May rite of passage walks across the Lester Centre stage.
Proud families and friends will celebrate with the graduates tonight, with recognition awards and bursary presentations marking the achievement of those now destined for other studies, or preparing for their transit into the working world.
For many that graduate tonight, university and college placements have already been confirmed, some of the students will stay close to home, either through NWCC's Prince Rupert or Terrace campuses. While others will take to travel across the province and the nation, as they pursue higher education at the university or college level.
For many, this ceremony will mark the point for navigation, a change of course from school to jobs in the local or national workforce, once their final exams are complete at the end of June.
For those wishing to view the night's events, CityWest cable will be providing broadcast coverage tonight starting at 7PM, the broadcast will also be available through online streaming from the CityWest website.
As they head off to their next great adventure, we offer up Our Best Wishes to all on this grand night of celebration.
You can get a sample of some of the preparations that have gone into this years Grad from the Charles Hays Secondary twitter feed, which has been offering updates through the week.
