Prince Rupert Ground Search and Rescue gets salute from lost Mount Hays hiker
An Instagram shout out to Prince Rupert Ground Search and Rescue is highlighting the work of the local organization this morning, with the local group of volunteers recently called out to lend assistance.
In the social media posting, which was rebroadcast on the local #PrinceRupert twitter feed, the unfortunate out of town explorer recounted his ill fated trek up Mount Hays, where he found himself in a bit of a jam that required some help.
Realizing that he was in need of some help, the hiker made contact with local authorities, with the Prince Rupert Ground and Search Unit taking to the Mountain to retrace the steps and lend assistance for another successful outcome.
The incident makes for a timely reminder for the community as to the valuable service that the volunteer group provides and for the impact that they have in the Prince Rupert region.
You can learn more about their work and how you can join as a volunteer or provide other form of assistance from their Facebook page here.
