The great release is set for Saturday, as the Oldfield Creek Fish Hatchery hosts it's 9th annual Smolt Festival, which features the much anticipated release of the Oldfield Coho Smolts.
The popular event makes for a fun and educational experience for all, with games, crafts and educational displays to go along with the release of smolts into Hays Creek and their further journey beyond.
Held rain or shine it will take place Saturday from 1 to 3PM, adding to this years festivities will be catering from Mucho Gusto Catering, offering their culinary creations to the day.
As things turn out, release day can't come fast enough for the smolts of Oldfield Creek, a posting to the Hatchery facebook page reveals that he smolts have become late night menu items for local animals that have worked their way into the hatchery building.

The popular attraction recently received a significant financial boost, with a donation from Pacific NorthWest LNG that will be put to use towards a number of projects at the Wantage Road facility.
