May is looking to be a productive month for the Human Resources Department at City Hall with a number of past job opportunities having just closed their application period and new opportunities arriving on the city's Jobs page.
The most recent career ops come from the city's Operations Department with a call for an Engineering Technologist, a unionized position with CUPE and a starting rate of pay of 33.39 per hour. The main focus for the position includes:
A wide range of duties including, but not limited to the inspection of ongoing public infrastructure construction, assisting in contract administration, and the processing of permits. Duties also include maintaining and providing direction to a variety of developers, contractors, and suppliers with respect to project scope, procurement, and the maintenance of City standards and specification.

The Second Operations Department opportunity comes from the city's search for an Equipment Operator, with a starting salary of 35.79 for the successful applicant.
The scope of the work expected is as follows:
Reporting to Operations Management the successful candidate will operate all equipment listed under the Equipment Operator II classification in the Collective Agreement and will be required to hold an Industry Training Authority’s (ITA) Heavy Equipment Operator Approved Certification. This person will perform installation and repair of Municipal Infrastructure and routine inspections/maintenance of equipment. The Operator must be aware of the excavation techniques, hazards and job site traffic flows in order to minimize the risk of injury and property/equipment damage.
The employee must be able to read and utilize blueprints along with completing all necessary jobsite communication and paperwork. The successful candidate will be highly motivated to ensure the timely and efficient completion of assigned tasks while dealing with multiple priorities, the Public and City Staff. The position is attendance sensitive and will be required to work overtime as operationally necessary.
The Closing date for that position is also May 30th.
