The application to open a BC Cannabis location in Prince Rupert has moved forward to the City council consultation period |
The BC Liquor Distribution Branch has moved forward with their application for a business licence in Prince Rupert, with the plan ahead to add a Cannabis Retail store adjacent to the BC Liquor Branch Store on 2nd Avenue West.
As we outlined in early April, the proposed retail plan would be similar in nature to what is proposed by the BCLDB for Terrace, however as opposed to the stand alone operation in that city; the Prince Rupert version would make use of some warehousing space in the existing Liquor store location, with proposed hours of operation from 10AM to 10 PM, seven days a week.
As the proposed location falls within the city's previous guidelines for such retail operations, the next step for the BCLDB is to await the findings of a consultation period now underway by the City of Prince Rupert, as City council seeks to hear the views of the public when it comes to this latest application for a licence to operate.
From today until June 10th residents with comments, or concerns about the proposed retail project can forward them to Prince Rupert City Council by way of the Corporate Administration Office.
You can mail in your comments to City Hall at 424 Third Avenue West, Prince Rupert, V8J 1L7 or by email addressed to cityhall@princerupert.ca
You can contact the corporate administration office at City Hall for more information on the consultation period, the number at City Hall is 250-627-0960.
The Liquor Store project makes for the third confirmed operator to show interest in Prince Rupert, with two proposed stores which include: High Culture at Five Corners and Clarity Cannabis on Third West both in varying stages of their development plan.
