Regional District meets tonight with wide ranging agenda to tackle

Members of North Coast Regional District will be working into part of the May Long weekend with their Regular Board Meeting set for this evening at 7PM at the Coastal Business Centre Boardroom on Third Avenue West.

The Agenda for this evening features a quite diverse range of reports, presentations and requests to explore among the highlights some background on the state of Emergency Towing needs on the West Coast, Partnership opportunities for Local Governments, an update on Electric Vehicle charging plans and a review of the concerns of the Prince Rupert Environmental Society on the topic of Large Vessel Anchor Safety.

The report from the Environmental Society follows along the same lines as a presentation that was made to Prince Rupert City Council in February, at which time Luanne Roth was invited to make her presentation to the Regional Body.

Among the reading material on the theme for the Regional Directors was a two page briefing from Ms. Roth, as well as some other material on the issue found on pages 17 to 31 of the Agenda.

Regional District will also review a correspondence from the Australian mining and energy producer BHP, which as we noted on the blog yesterday, has become one of the first of companies to respond to the North Coast Regional District climate change letters, which the District approved back in January.

The Regional District Board members will also review the audited financial statements for the NCRD, as well as a letter from Haida Gwaii indicating that funeral service provisions will no longer be available on Haida Gwaii as of June 1st.

Prior to this evening's Regional District session, the North Coast Regional District Electoral Area Advisory Committee will hold a session at 6:30PM.
