COVID-19 measures increased on Central Coast following positive case report


The Heiltsuk Tribal Council has increased its local measures related to COVID-19, that following notification of a positive test result for the coronavirus in the community.

The advisory was posted on Wednesday, providing an outline of the steps that the Council had taken in response to the notification, including the request that all residents in the community stay home and the notice of a curfew from 930PM to 6AM.

The community fire truck will be making rounds through the overnight period as part of the curfew enforcement progra,

All of the community offices have been closed until further notice, while the Band store will remain open as an essential service, with more details on access to it to be provided in the days to come.

As part of the COVID-19 response, the Emergency Operations Centre has also been reactivated.


In addition to the local measures in the territory, the Council has also issued some travel protocols in and out of the region, including a request to postpone any non essential travel, as well as for those returning from outside the territory as well as those in their household to self isolate for fourteen days.
