(Map from Drive BC)

For those making a Friday trip into or out of Prince Rupert, the drive to Terrace and points east may be a slow one for a bit today, or at a standstill at times; that as the Ministry of Transportation warns of Avalanche Control plans for a portion of the road along the Skeena.

The work which is set to get underway at 9:30 AM will take place in the Kwinitsa area, along a 5.9 km stretch of the highway from Highway Boundary SA27 (57km west of Terrace) and West of 35 Mile (63km east of Prince Rupert.

You can anticipate up to a one hour delay during road closure periods until 12:30 this afternoon.

You can access updated info on the Situation from the Drive BC website or twitter feed
