MLA Rice notes of ongoing challenges of COVID and reviews a year of constituency developments in Year End message

It is the season for farewell to 2021 messages from politicians at all levels of the governance scale and North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice is among the first to send our her Year End Review of 2021

Ms. Rice shared her year end thoughts on Friday, using both a letter to her constituents and a video to recap her year as the NDP MLA for the region.

The video puts a focus on the ongoing COVID pandemic, the health actions put in place and the ongoing vaccination program over the course of the year, starting with the community cheers of January for health care workers at Acropolis Manor.

The Acropolis story didn't gain much of a full review in the video year ender however, that despite it being the one story which dominated our news earlier this year with the passing of 17 residents of that facility.

Something which was by far the darkest period of the coronavirus to date for the Prince Rupert area.

Among some of the other themes of note from the MLA's video archives for the end of the year included some significant focus on the NDP government's work on  reconciliation  in BC.

The tour of the riding also looks at some of the investments that the province has made in Prince Rupert, Haida Gwaii and the Central coast.

Funding for the Digby Island Airport Ferry, Lax Kw'alaams Housing in Prince Rupert, Connected Coast on Haida Gwaii and the Central Coast, Child care development and Port investment were some of those themes explored as part of the MLA's Highlight package.

The final portion of the video for the most part providing for a travelogue of sorts of her visits to many of the communities in the North Coast riding.

More notes on the MLA's themes can be found from our Legislature archive page.
