Kitimat spike for COVID-19, while many other communities of Northwest see low counts from last week

Local Health Authority COVID review by region 
for December 12-18


While this past week featured increased Public Health Orders across the province in response to the rise of the Omricon variant in recent weeks; when it comes to the review of Covid case report data for the Northwest for the last week, the results continue to show some good results for Northwest communities.

That as a number of communities show continued declines in the reported case counts data from the BC CDC for  the last seven days. 

Kitimat has seen a spike in COVID reports and now claims the status of the top case count of the Northwest with 39 cases recorded from the week of December 12-18

Terrace which was the leader for most of the last number of months saw continued improvement with just 19 cases recorded this week more than a fifty percent drop from the returns of last week.

Prince Rupert saw a decline in the last seven days with 5 cases recorded for the week of December 5 to 11.

The full review across the region for the week of December 12-18  from the BC CDC looks as follows:

Kitimat --  39 cases
Terrace -- 19 cases
Upper Skeena --  10 cases
Prince Rupert -- 5 cases
Smithers -- 4 cases
Burns Lake -- 2 cases
Nechako --  2 cases
Snow Country-Stikine- Telegraph Creek --
  2 cases
Nisga'a Region --  1
Bella Coola Valley --  1
Haida Gwaii -- N/A
Central Coast -- N/A

Wednesday's provincial report lists  35 new cases of COVID for Northern Health,  with 191 Active cases.
