Black Press Northwest welcome new boss Mary Kemmis

A change in management for Black Press in the Northwest

There's been an official changing of the Guard for Black Press in the Northwest this week, with the local weekly providing a welcome to new Vice-President  of the BC North Division Mary Kemmis, who has taken on duties that will be focused on the Terrace, Prince Rupert and Kitimat operations, along with revenue development for the BC North Division.

We first made note of her pending arrival in October, that as Ms. Kemmis was making her farewells to Red Deer, Alberta where she last served with Black Press.

As she notes in her editorial page notes this week, it's a return for her to the northwest having grown up on a farm near Smithers BC, with the new VP expressing her enthusiasm in getting to know the customers and readers for the media company.

Her overview also provides a glimpse into the path ahead for the media group in the northwest and how they view their work in the region and their place in the media landscape of the region, as well as how they may be different from other community resources that may be available to area residents.

Not mentioned in the welcome to the northwest feature is the status of the former Publisher and Managing Editor of the Prince Rupert paper, Todd Hamilton.

He last appeared in print in the Remembrance Day edition of November 11th  and that only as part of the photo array of the workers at the Third Street offices for Black Press in Prince Rupert.

If indeed he has departed the office, there was no traditional farewell  to the community provided as has often been the case from previous editors or reporters.

Should your copy of this weeks paper somehow have already gone to the recycling bins, you can find an online version of the Battle plan for Black Press from their e edition.
