Blue Knuckles yield Big Fish and Prize winning smiles



The Annual Blue Knuckle Derby lived up to its name this year, with bitterly cold temperatures greeting participants as they took to the waters off Prince Rupert, with the dawn to dusk fishing providing for the three winners of 2,500 dollars in prize money.

When the total catch of the day was assessed, the three top placements in the 2021 Blue Knuckle Derby went to the following participants.

1st prize fish @ 16.74 lbs taking home $1200.00 donated by Harbour Machining was Cliff Ryan 

2nd prize fish @ 16.68 lbs taking home $800.. donated by Lighten Up and R&R Rewind was Aven Crawshay 

3rd prize fish @ 14.44 lbs taking home $500.00 donated by P.R. Port Authority was Michael Juetten

There was also the two Cash Prizes drawings, were awarded by Lions member Jim Martin from the warmth of the Moose Hall on the evening of the 27th.

The first cash prize of 1,000 dollars was awarded to Jeremy Main, with the Second 2,000 Cash prize going to Harry Young.

The Cash Prizes were provided by Gateway Dental and Alta Gas.

Mr. Martin also provided for the winners list of the many, many door prizes for the night

All of the proceeds from the 2021 Blue Knuckle Derby go towards Lions Club projects in the community, as well the Lions noted that all of the prizes were supplied by local merchants and organizations in the Prince Rupert area.
