Prince Rupert Council sets increase of fees and charges for range of services and facility usage in 2022

On a night notable for the brevity for their City Council Session, the members of Prince Rupert council made quick work on providing for final approval on a schedule of fees and charges ahead for 2022,  using up just four minutes of their sixteen minute gathering on Monday evening towards that duty. 

As part of their work to put in motion the increases, Council approved the Waste Bylaw Changes and Charges for 2022, as well as the increase to Cemetery Fees for the year ahead. 

One other bylaw increase will also be finalized by years' end, as staff brought back the Recreation Fees and Charges Bylaw, the revisit required owing to some clerical and legal requirements that meant  for a redo for the vote on the Bylaws.

The revote offered up an opportunity for Councillor Gurvinder Randhawa to once again reinforce his concerns over some of the increases on Recreation items, however the bylaws proceeded forward anyways.

While the changes and new charges are not affected, the process of approval started over on Monday with First, Second and Third reading; the final approval to come at an upcoming meeting of Council, most likely one that was added to the calendar for December 13th.

None of the three items up for approval generate much in the way of discussion, other than Councillor Randhawa's thoughts on recreation fees.
