CIHL's Top Dogs from Terrace in town this weekend as Rampage return to action at the Jim

The near one month break from CIHL play is almost at an end for the Prince Rupert Rampage, the players having been honing their skills in practice sessions since their return from they trip to Cariboo where they earned a split with a win over Williams Lake and loss to Quesnel over the Remembrance Day Weekend.

Somewhat surprisingly, considering the amount of time off the ice, the Rhino's have maintained hold on second place, sharing placement with the Hazelton Wolverines with weekend play set to get undwerway.

The task ahead however, won't be an easy one, next up on the schedule for Prince Rupert a match up with their long standing rivals from Terrace.

The River Kings currently the top dog in the CIHL with an undefeated 7-0 heading into play Saturday night.

The Prince Rupert side will be looking to Judd Repole and Hunter Johnson to pick up where they left off in mid November, with Hunter currently second in scoring in the league three points shy of the top scorer Ryan Roseboom from the River Kings.

The Terrace forward clearly a player that the Rampage will be looking to shut down upon his visit to the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre on Saturday. Such has been the pace of the River Kings in the first half of the year that they account for four of the top ten scoring leaders to date.

Saturday's game which is the last game for the Rampage home or away before the Christmas Break is also one with much to take in beyond the fast pace of the play on the ice.

The Salvation Army's Teddy Bear Toss takes place Saturday, along with Chuck a Duck a popular thing from season's past. the Rampage also have a Merchandise Table available for some holiday gift ideas, while the Prince Rupert Port Authority's Donation Nation will be open through the game.

The Beer Gardens and an opportunity for Autographs post game make for the full package for the night, with Game Tickets only available at the door, with the usual COVID requirements in place of double vaccination and a BC Vaccine card.

Saturday is also a big night for the KidSport Prince Rupert Group, which along with the PRPA, City of Prince Rupert and Rampage are hosting their Giving for Goals Fundraiser.

As we noted back in November, the night features a Turkey Dinner Buffet, Tickets to the Rampage/Kings game, a silent auction, cash bar and appearance by members of the Rampage.

Though Rhino fans are no doubt hoping the team stays away from the Turkey Buffet line prior to game time, what with Turkey known for the need for a nice nap shortly after consumption.
