The Prince Rupert detachment of the RCMP is calling on the public to lend a hand in trying to identity a male alleged to have committed fraud at local business.
In a case file posted to their website on Wednesday, local Mounties outlined the nature of the September 28th incident which saw a male stop in at the Belmont Liquor store to make a purchase, however, the money used in the transaction was far from legitimate.
The man used a fraudulent $50 bill and staff did not realize until a couple of days later when they were balancing the cash register.
The man made off with is ill-gotten drinks as well as change from the exchange.

The male of interest to the RCMP is described as:
Indigenous, Wearing a black coat with a yellow shirt
He features Short curly black hair and is approximately 6 feet tall and;
Thin build

The RCMP also has some helpful notes for merchants in the community this holiday season, providing some guidance on what to watch for in the currency you receive.
Inspect the money for security features (holograms, raised print, the windows being see through)
If you suspect it is a counterfeit bill, or are unsure, politely refuse and ask for another bill (inspect that one too)
Advise the person to check the bill with the police Inform the police of any possible attempted use of counterfeit bills
Be courteous; The person in possession of the bill may not know it is counterfeit.
