As viewing season winds down for Sunken Gardens, volunteers get a shout out from City Council

One of the most poplar spots in the city is in full bloom as we head towards the final stretch of summer, with the Sunken Gardens behind the Prince Rupert Court house hosting many through the last few months.

Whether they be visitors from cruise ships (such as today will bring), tourists passing through town, or residents of the region.

The peaceful urban oasis (not so much when construction activity is taking place) received a well deserved shout out at the August 28th City Council session, with Councillor Nick Adey noting of the colourful arrangements on display and the work from volunteers that brings it all together.

"Just to offer a shout out to the Prince Rupert Garden Club. Yesterday morning I spent a very pleasant half an hour at Sunken Gardens and it is in full bloom and they deserve all the credit in the world for having made it so" -- Prince Rupert City Councillor Nick Adey

Mother Nature however, is set to make this years showcase a time limited run, with the days of frost not far away now and the next work up for the Prince Rupert Garden Club that of preparing the Gardens for winter.

Til then, a few snapshots from a Labour Day weekend drop in.
