The truck entrance down to the preparation site for the new Lax Kw'alaams led housing in Prince Rupert |
An update for members of the Lax Kw'alaams Band has provided a bit more information on all of the work currently underway on the east side of Prince Rupert just off of 11th Avenue East at Edwards Avenue.
As we noted in mid August, that location has been an active land clearing site for much of the last few weeks with some significant activity taking place as the much anticipated housing addition for the community makes some headway.
In their notes for their members released last week, the Band and WAAP Housing Society note of survey work, drainage planning, creation of the truck access to the site and excavation work is now underway.

With the work now moving forward, the timeline for construction would have tenants making ready for occupancy sometime in 2025.
In addition to the Prince Rupert project, residents in Lax Kw'alaams itself will also be seeing some new four-plexes built, those homes will add to the housing stock in the community north of Prince Rupert.
More notes on items of interest from Lax Kw'alaams can be reviewed here.
Further notes on housing in the Prince Rupert area can be reviewed here and across the Northwest here.
