With Ice back in at the Arena, First skate of the year set for tonight at the Jim

The Ice is back in at the Jim and the skating season starts tonight

For the month of September, Prince Rupert residents seeking some recreation time can trade in a dip in the pool for a glide on the ice.

As we noted last week, the Earl Mah Aquatic Centre has gone into shutdown mode, with a month of maintenance work ahead for the popular and well used facility.

However, with the pool drained, you can still take to the water, albeit the frozen kind, with the Recreation Centre advising that public skating is back at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre Arena starting tonight.

The first skate of the season takes place from 5:30 - 6:45 PM.

Public skates are scheduled for Sundays and Tuesdays through the year

You can review the Arena Schedule from the most recent Active Living Guide or call the Recreation Centre at 250-627-1781 for more information on their Public Skating program.

Tomorrow night  marks the Annual Fall Registration night, with reps from civic programs and those from around the community available to share information and take your registrations for the season ahead.
