Winter it seems is not quite ready to surrender to the northwest in early March, with a weather maker on the way for the region which could make for challenges on the roads in the hours ahead.
If you have travel plans to Terrace, Kitimat or Stewart over the next twenty four, to forty eight hours it will be best to keep an eye on the Drive BC highway cams to see how the conditions are shaping up.
The Skeena Valley, Kitimat and points north are in line for an extensive period of snow through to Friday with 30 cm anticipated for the Terrace area, 40 cm for the appropriately named Snow Valley of Kitimat.
As a result a WINTER STORM WARNING has been issued for points east of Prince Rupert.
The upcoming snowfall is the result of warm front coming from the West clashing with the remnants of arctic air from the North, with snow starting today increasing in volume through Thursday
Prince Rupert may see some snow flurries this afternoon, but the warm front is both hours awaywikth the temperature set to rise Thursday.
The calm before the storm ... The Terrace Round-a-bout may look somewhat different once the snow starts later today |
