Nathan Cullen opens up "Take Back our Coast" Northwest tour in Prince Rupert

As a follow up to his introduction of a bill to protect the Pacific Northwest, Nathan Cullen, the Skeena-Bukley Valley MP, will be in Prince Rupert tonight hosting an open house to outline the features of his private members bill to the House of Commons.

As we outlined on the blog back in September, Mr. Cullen's bill would ban the transit of oil tankers carrying crude oil from North Coast waters, while at the same time the  MP is calling for the development of an oil refinery to process the bitumen into refined product to be shipped from a North Coast terminal.

The outline to his proposed bill can be found from Mr. Cullen's website

The focus of Mr. Cullen's bill and the take back our coast campaign appears to be to keep the Enbridge Northern Gateway issue alive seeking to ensure that the controversial pipeline project doesn't move forward.

More on that can be found on Mr. Cullen's website page dedicated towards that theme.

Tonight's session is being held at the Nisga'a Hall on Third Avenue, with a start time of 7 PM.

Refreshments will be provided for those in attendance.

Background on Mr. Cullen's tour can be reviewed from his Facebook page dedicated to the the tour
