Preparations for the Spring season of Golf in Prince Rupert will soon move into high drive as course superintendent Peter Drake begins to assemble the 2019 greens and maintenance staff |
The run of sunshine of February and this first week of March is starting to get the city's golfers itching to hit the course on a more frequent basis (the Prince Rupert course's true hard core devotees will already have been out looking things over) and towards the upcoming the golf season, the course superintendent Peter Drake is already looking to hire on his staff for 2019.
6 positions in total are available at the moment. 3 Full Time Seasonal, while 3 others are Part Time Seasonal, with four of the six those of greens keepers, while the remaining two are more towards the maintenance side of the course operations.
Drake will be looking for hard working individuals who have a great eye for detail, and are keen to learn and grow as part of our golf course maintenance team. Prince Rupert Golf Club is an equal opportunity employer which takes great pride in safety, training and creating a positive workplace.
Applicants should note that the nature of the work means an early start at 6AM, weekend work and the majority of it outdoors in all of the weather conditions that Prince Rupert can make famous.
The full scope of the jobs that fall within the terms of the CUPE 105 contract with the city, can be found below:

The course Superintendent, who was hired on almost a year ago has developed a plan to address many of the course situations that he inherited with the job and spent a good portion of 2018 working to get the course towards the standard that he is hoping to bring to Ninth Avenue West facility.
We explored some of that work back in October as the course was heading towards its Fall maintenance routine and making plans for the 2019 season.
As part of the larger plan for the Golf Course this year, the Board announced the hiring of new pro Tyler Stene who has arrived in the community to take on his duties as both course professional and Club House Manager.
Golfers and those looking to take up the sport can stop in at the Club House to introduce themselves and ask about the plans that the new pro is working to bring to the course for the year ahead.
