Blog Watching: Week ending April 2, 2023

CityWest's financial contribution towards City Budget themes grabbed the bulk of the attention this week, with our notes on the announcement from City West of 1 million dollars to be delivered over two years reviewed by a large audience.

The remainder of our list of five featured interest in BC Hydro's overnight work of this week that left much of the city and surrounding area without power for seven hours.

The end of Senior Men's Hockey season wrapped up in Quesnel this weekend and our look at the Coy Cup tournament found a large audience.

The Federal Budget was delivered this week and our look at some of the areas of interest related by Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland made for some note for readers.

And with the roads of Prince Rupert needing a bit of attention after a rough winter and spring pot hole season underway,  there was some interest in our notes on the City's Budget request for Paving and an RFP just issued for street line painting.

From the weeks review the most read of our items however was that which explored the CityWest announcement of earlier this week.
 
CityWest announces distribution plans for 1 million dollars, over two years, towards City Budget property tax relief themes  -- The City of Prince Rupert owned communication Company, CityWest has announced its plan to put one million dollars towards the city's budget concerns, with a two plan for delivering on their funds. From that announcement of Monday, the City's Financial office revised the proposed tax rate increase dropping it to a proposed 13.4%.  You can find more notes on the City's budget planning here.   (posted March 29 , 2023

Large BC Hydro Outage to take place at Midnight for much of Prince Rupert, surrounding area. Hydro Service work should last up to six hours --  Some extensive service work on the Prince Rupert Hydro station made for an overnight power outage, the original six hours extended to close to seven before the power returned.  (posted  March 28, 2023

Federal Budget 2023: Farewell Surplus, as Liberals take on years of deficit ahead to deliver on programs, hedge against future economic challenges -- Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland delivered the Federal Government's Financial plan and budget for 2023 this week, charting a program heaving on spending in a number of areas.   (posted March  28, 2023

Paved Roads ... and lines to go with them! City of Prince Rupert posts RFP for upcoming line painting -- Such are the state of the city's roads, that just a mention that maybe some blacktop is coming gains a strong readership. This week we noted of a Budget Ask for capital funding for roads and BC Bid entry for line marking for the year ahead.  (posted March 30, 2023
