Prince Rupert residents may see the data collection vehicle above around town over the next week or so (from City of PR) |
The City of Prince Rupert has given a heads up towards a project this weekend and next week to map out the city's streets as part of an infrastructure date collection program.
The update on the plans which are weather dependent outline how the Consultants will helping Prince Rupert with data collection for asset management work.
The specially equipped vehicle will be driving the community's roads (and sidewalks - there will also be a mobility aid used), to collect data for the City. Data will be collected on evenings and weekends, as well, weather permitting.
The data collected through the process will be used to help the City with planning for our future infrastructure upgrades, including the city's plans to replace 26 km of priority water and sewer pipes.
Updates on the work and a few comments related towards it so far can be followed through the city's social media portal.
Here's hoping the collection vehicle doesn't get swallowed whole by a pothole, or divert into some of the open excavations around town along the way.
More notes on the city's Operations department can be explored through our archive page.
