Rumours! A play that clearly has Prince Rupert in mind will be this years showcase local theatre project, with opening night at the Lester Centre planned for late March |
If ever there were a play that captures the constant vibe around Prince Rupert, this years presentation through the Lester Centre of the Arts seems to fit the playbill, with Rumours set to take auditions on Monday evening.
The Neil Simon farce features a comedic look at confusion and mis communication as the principles try to get their stories straight over the case of a Deputy Mayor of New York who has shot himself ... the weaving of the storyline with the ever changing narrative of the characters certainly could channel any number of local themes over the years on the North Coast and should make for another in the long line of popular local theatre productions out of the Lester Centre.
The target date for the local theatre performance is late March, with the 22nd to 24th pencilled in for the curtain raising as Producer and Director Michael Gurney and co-director Hans Seidemann prepare to take their cast and crew through the paces towards opening night.
Working on the stage managing with the production duo will be Scott Langille who will be handling all the stage management requirements.
There are ten roles in total to be cast, five female, five male with the auditions set for Monday evening at 7 PM at the Lester Centre.
This wikipedia entry provides a glimpse into the plot for the play and the success it had both on and off Broadway since its debut in the fall of 1988.
