35th Anniversary for Ridley Terminals makes for bounty of cash for North Coast communities/groups

One of the largest of industrial footprints and employers on the North Coast celebrated their 35th year this past week and as part of the celebrations for Ridley Terminals Incorporated, the industrial giant for the region distributed 1 million dollars in investment funding for communities and organizations across the North Coast.

RTI outlined the scope of their program at Thursday's Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce, from that session the delivery of the funding will look as follows:

In Prince Rupert, School District 52 will receive $288,000 towards the District's Truth and Reconciliation Implementation plan.

As well 90 thousand dollars will be provided for the Coastal Pathways Program in Prince Rupert, with another 100,000 dollars to be delivered to the Women's Leadership Network towards their plans to host a conference in the community.

Another $42,000 will be allocated to the Breakfast Club of Canada

Port Edward will also see $79,000 in funding.

For Metlakatla, $200,000 from the program is to be put towards their recreational facility,  while up Tuck Inlet, Lax Kw'alaams will also receive $200,000 which they plan to put to use on a planned sports track for the community school area.

As we noted last November, Ridley Terminals is currently up for sale, with the Federal Government putting the shipping terminal on the For Sale listings in the fall, there have been no updates on that process since the listing was posted.
