Plans in place for High Ground Hike in Prince Rupert May 28th



Prince Rupert residents will have an opportunity to put their Emergency Preparedness plans into motion on Tuesday, May 28th when the City of Prince Rupert hosts a High Ground Hike,  taking participants from the waterfront at Kwinitsa Station, to the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre.

The event is being organized by the City and Emergency Management BC to raise awareness about local emergency evacuation routes, the location of the muster station in Prince Rupert and to learn more about emergency preparedness plans in the region.

The local High Ground Hike is set for a 1:30 start from the Kwinitsa site with participants making their way to Jim Ciccone Civic Centre, which is the local emergency muster station for the community.

Once at the Civic Centre, participants can take in the displays and events that will be in place as part of an Emergency Preparedness Fair to take place that day.

The Civic Centre is the Prince Rupert Muster Station should any disaster
or Community emergency take place


For those that can't take part in the High Ground Hike, the Fair is to continue through until 7PM that evening at the Civic Centre, for residents to learn more about Emergency Preparedness.

SD52 has been invited to participate in the event, as well as any other community members who wish to take part in both the Hike and Fair.
