My Safe Place Art Exhibit opens tonight at the Ice House Gallery

The Ice House Gallery at the Atlin Terminal is the destination for
Art aficionados tonight, as the North Coast Transition Society
hosts its Community Art Exhibition

Tonight marks the opening night for the North Coast Transition Society's Community Art Exhibition "My Safe Place" a program which issued a call for the region's artists to create works of art reflecting the community's view of the housing crisis in the region, with artists encouraged to view their work through themes of housing and safety.

The options for artistic expression were wide and varied with the potential offered for work on display tonight from painting, sculpture, carving, quilting, poetry, photo or collage to name a few disciplines.

The original call for submissions was issued in April, which provided for a good period of time for artists to give thought to what they would like to present and bring it to the finished state.

That moment arrives tonight with the Opening Night showing at the Ice House in the Atlin Gallery starts at 5:30 with some Opening remarks about the journey so far as well as refreshments and dessert.

Updates on Transition Society events can be found from their Facebook page.
