Blog Watching: Week ending September 6, 2020

The Return of COVID to the Northwest and the summer of extremely wet weather served as the bookends for our list of five most read items for the last week.

An advisory from the Nisga'a Health Authority related to suspected cases of COVID, later confirmed, dominated much of the news for the last seven days, the ongoing evolution of events leading to a declaration of a State of Emergency from the Nass Valley on Friday.

Prince Rupert's weather, always for topic of discussion at the best of times, also made for one of our most read items for the week, as well as for a major theme for local media, with the summer totals confirming for many that the summer of 2020 was a total washout.

Also of note for the week another search for a Wanted Man by the Prince Rupert RCMP, as well as a pair of municipal themes, the first a potential new tenant for the city's warehouse investment initiative on George Hills Way and calls for casinos and gaming centres to reopen in municipalities across the province.

However, when it came to the most read item of the last week, the concerns over an outbreak of COVID-19 in the Nass Valley made for the items of most interest over the last seven days.
