Rockslide West of Terrace blocks Highway 16

A rock slide twenty kilometres west of Terrace has been 
reported, with the road currently blocked in that area

Update: 11:30 AM The road has been cleared for single alternating traffic.

Travel along Highway 16 between Terrace and Prince Rupert will be delayed today with reports of a rock slide ten to twelve kilometres to the west of Terrace .

Drive BC issued an advisory just before 9AM noting that crews had been dispatched to investigate the situation


A traveller along the highway posted a pair of photos of the slide scene to the Highway 16 Road Conditions Facebook page as well to provide a look at the situation for travellers.

The Road maintenance providers for the Terrace region have yet to advise as to how long it will take to clear the area. The next update is expected at 11:30 AM

The slide area will not have any impact on travellers from Prince Rupert who may be heading to Shames Mountain today.
