After a twenty year run, organizers of the Seafest Jim Ciccone Memorial 3 on 3 Basketball tournament have had to call a Time Out.
The Special Events Society has had to make a hard decision in the days leading up to this years Seafest, with the organization having to cancel this years Jimi Ciccone 3 on 3 Basketball challenge, that due to a lack of team registrations.
The deadline for participating teams was yesterday and as the registration period came to a close, not enough participants came forward to make the event viable.
The Challenge which was to run for three days over the course of the Seafest Weekend was sponsored by Northern Savings Credit Union, Cooks Jewellers and Good Times Games.
Organizers hope to bring the challenge back in 2019 and note the need for prospective teams to organize prior to the Seafest Weekend to ensure that the tournament can proceed as it had for the last two decades and remain an important part of the annual Seafest weekend.
The Announcement of the cancellation was posted to the Seafest Facebook page today.
