The 2018 edition of the Annual Lions Memorial Blue Knuckle Derby found some of the North Coast's heartiest fishermen and women heading out to the tidal waters of the North Coast seeking the big one ... with Ken Seymour returning to port to show case his winning catch at the end of the day after Boxing Day event in Prince Rupert.

Seymour's 8.915 kilogram catch, (19.65 pounds) delivered the money, with his efforts besting the next larges fish by over one kilogram, netting Seymor the Top Prize of $1,200 from Harbour Machining.

Second place went to Paul Miller who weighed in with a fish at 7.234 kilograms (15.94 pounds) which earned him $800 from Lighten Up Electric

Third place belonged to Steve Wessel who landed a 6.93 kilogram fish (15.21 pounds) which delivered him $500 from the Port of Prince Rupert.

The annual event was held this year in the memory of two Lions Club members, with Jeff Carlson and Marc Desautels commemorated for their work and service to community.

Mr. Desautels passed away in 2009, with Mr. Carlson passing in 2018.
