It was a busy weekend for the Charles Hays Rainmakers as the volleyball season came to its conclusion and the first challenges of the Basketball season got underway for the winter ahead.
Travel was a part of the picture for both the Basketball teams and volleyball squad, the Junior Boys traveling the farthest as they were in Prince George for a tournament hosted by Duchess Park.
When the weekend of play was complete, Kevin Sawka's Junior Boys had left for home with five wins and two losses for the efforts.
Such was the tempo of the games that two of the contests from the weekend went into Overtime as the Junior Boys battled some of the top teams in the Prince George area.
The two days of play also featured an opportunity for the Rainmakers to play at the home of the UNBC Timberwolves, providing a glimpse of what top level Canadian University teams have for facilities.
Their success in Prince George against some high profile teams will help to gain more recognition for the team as the BC Boys High School Basketball season gets under way.
The Senior Boys Rainmakers were in Terrace for games on Saturday, with the team helmed by Mel and Ryan Bishop finding success in both their games.
The Senior team took on Kitimat's Mount Elizabeth topping them 123-41.
The showdown with regional rival Caledonia also found the Rainmakers on their game, as they defeated the Kermodes by a score of 101-61.
The Senior Girls were part of the celebration of Volleyball at provincials in Vanderhoof, with three days of high tempo action taking place on the way to a new provincial champion, this year from Langley Christian.
As the tournament came to an end on Saturday, the Senior Girls finished their season with a 16th placement at this provincials.
