The Senior Boys from Charles Hays put on a good show with their counterparts from West Vancouver on Thursday night, as the two teams tipped off for their initial game in the No Regrets Tournament in North Vancouver.

The fast paced, end to end battle saw the teams exchange baskets for much of the evening with the Rainmakers claiming the last of the shots to take a 66-63 victory at Collingwood High School in North Vancouver.

The No Regrets organizers have dispatched a team of bloggers to cover all of the action from the 2017 tournament and this item from Scott Leigh, a Handsworth Grad from 2006 provides a good snapshot of the Rainmaker's debut victory at this years tourney.

The article perhaps unknowingly channelled  some twin themes of Prince Rupert High School basketball history with a final observation as to how the "storm the Rainmakers were making in the first  half ended in a category 4 Hurricane"

Hurricanes of course as long time basketball followers in the city will remember, was once the name for the Charles Hays team prior to the merger of Prince Rupert Secondary with Charles Hays a number of years ago.

Former Charles Hays teacher Brian Cameron has been taking in some of the action at the North Vancouver gymnasiums and he holds true to the adage of once a Rainmaker, always a Rainmaker; by forwarding a number of photos of some action from the hardwood in North Vancouver.

A collection of just a few of the many photos he took through the game can be viewed below, more are available through the Charles Hays Twitter feed:

The Rainmakers next see action this evening at 5:45 when the take on the highly regarded Kitsilano Secondary team, success on court tonight would move the Rainmakers towards Saturday's finales with an opportunity to work their way towards the Championship game at 7:30 PM.

Earlier in the day, Terrace's Caledonia was in action, as the Kermodes took on the Carson Graham Eagles, with the Terrace boys holding their own for a good portion of the matchup before the Eagles, a highly regarded Lower mainland squad finally put some distance between themselves and the visitors from Terrace.

A review of the path to the final score of 84 to 45 can be found from this account by Tom Keast and Scott Leigh
