Pembina progress report for Watson Island project

While the project wasn't part of the main roll out of news for investors, the Pembina LPG Plant set for Watson Island did grab some space in the most recent report for Investors delivered last week by the Alberta based energy company.

The report which noted a 12 percent increase for the financials over the last year, explored all of Pembina's current investments and projects both in Canada and worldwide.

In their review of facilities, Pembina noted that the Watson Island terminal work to this point has seen grading and drainage of the main facilities area completed with material deliveries now underway.

The terminal which will source liquid propane gas from Pembina's Redwater complex in Alberta is anticipated to have an in service date of mid 2020, dependent on ongoing regulatory and environmental approvals.

The liquid propane for shipment will be delivered by rail car along CN Rails Northern mainline running along the corridor from Alberta to the North Coast.

A work camp has been established on the Watson site to serve as a residence for workers as they prepare to enter the construction phase of the terminal plans.

The Watson Island project which comes with a capital cost of 250 million dollars was first announced in the Spring of 2017,  it is one of two LPG Terminals that now make for the industries push into the Northwest.

The AltaGas terminal is expected to be in service before the summer arrives, ready to ship liquid propane to global markets from Ridley Island

So far, the Pembina project it is the only announced development on the recently re-christened Watson Intermodal Trade and Logistics Park that is owned by the City of Prince Rupert.
